One of the things about London is not only its long history but that no matter which neighbourhood you choose to live in, you are living in a very great city. Central London may be the best part of the entire city due to its upscale and location.
Plus, there are many options for you to choose to live in and you should be able to find something that will fit your lifestyle as well as your budget. If you pick one neighbourhood, you can always visit the others to see what life is like in those areas of Central London.
There are quite a few neighbourhoods all located in this region of the city. Some lists put the number at 15 while others raise that total to 21. No matter which area you choose to live in or visit, you won’t go away disappointed.
Here are those neighbourhoods you should consider living in as they are all in Central London:
As you can see there is a lot to look over and choose between. These are all great areas to live in and they all have their own historical roots. Plus, they all come with unique housing styles that should fit your lifestyle and preferences.
Central London has a lot to offer. Many tourists and city dwellers claim they won’t go back as so many people come to Central London to see the history, visit the boutiques, eat in some nice local restaurants and so on.
Just the historical places to visit could fill a very large book. London has been around since AD 43 when the Romans established Londonium on the bank of the Thames River.
There is so much to do there it is hard to know where to start. The first place everyone should visit, of course, would be Buckingham Palace. After that, you should go to the London Eye and get a 360-degree view of the city and its skyline.
If you are into seeing wax figures, Madame Tussaud’s original museum is in Central London and has been open for over 200 years. Or if wax figures are not your thing, the National Art Gallery houses many world-famous and other paintings. It is a good place to go to get out of the weather and spent a relaxing afternoon
Or spend the day looking at St. Paul’s cathedral or stroll through the natural history museum. After all that, you can have a nice picnic in Hyde Park. This is just the tip of the iceberg for things to do in Central London.
Unfortunately, unless you are wealthy beyond imagination, you may not be able to afford a home in Central London if you are a first-time buyer. But there are other locations that would be just as nice and you can get to Central London via the Tube when you want to visit the area.
Walthamstow and the Lower Lea Valley- The best value for your money
Highbury and Islington- You will need £400,000+ to live in this nice neighbourhood
Central Hackney- You can find some good deals in this neighbourhood if you look hard enough
Dulwich- Good schools and a nice village feel to the area
Brockley and Lewisham- A cultural and food hotspot that attracts many visitors to the area.
New Cross- Another affordable neighbourhood that should fit some first time buyer’s budgets
Thamesmead- Right now this area is going through a housing boom as well as a job creation trend.
However, these are not the only locations you can find affordable housing if you are a first-time buyer. Your location will depend on where you work, what type of schools you will need, and so on.
You may want to find a neighbourhood that is not an estate-buying hotspot and take a gamble it will turn into one so you make money off your home.
Unfortunately, there is no definitive list of Prime Central London areas. The reason for that lack is that the areas change over time. Those changes are influenced by demand and the attitudes of the people.
Here is a list of Prime Central and emerging Prime Central neighbourhoods where you may want to find a home:
Mayfair- Across the street from Soho, this upscale neighbourhood has 5-star hotels, great restaurants, and top nightlife.

Westminster- Where all things government take place. You will find the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, and other important buildings in this Central London neighbourhood.
