Ravenscourt Park
A Medieval Beauty
The history of this little community goes back to at least the 12th century AD. Its beginning is lost to time but over the years, this area has grown into a nice little village nestled between Bedford Park, Shephard’s Bush, and Hammersmith. The largest park in its boundaries is named after the area, Ravenscourt Park, and the park is found in the southwest corner of this little community near Hammersmith.
Residents have a short drive to the A4 which provides them excellent east-west access to other parts of the city. The value of the homes in this area is on the lower end of the scale due to its westerly location and a fair distance from the heart of London.
Its Working-Class Purpose
Not every home in London is for the rich. Ravenscourt was designed to be for the working class. When the Scott family sold the property in this area it was for the purpose of building homes for working-class families.
This took place in 1887 but not all of the residents of the area were on board with this idea. They fought hard to keep the area for the upper class. Eventually, the developers won the battle.
Ravenscourt is more of a working-class neighbourhood even though its property values do tend to get a little bit high for that class of people.
Ravenscourt Park Real Estate Value
It is hard to get an average price for the different types of structures in the area. There are not that many homes for sale and the value of the property is not universal.
There are some homes bought in 2002 that have doubled or tripled their value while homes bought in 2015 only gained less than 10% in value in 7 years. The most expensive homes found in the area are on Stamford Brook Rd, Cleveland, and Chiswick avenues. The asking price for these nicely built homes is £2,500,000 for the first and £2,100,000 for the last two. From there the prices drop significantly into the 6-figure range.
Just north of the Park, you will find the cheapest residence for sale in this area. It is listed at £162,000. Most homes seem to be under £500,000 if you can find them for sale.
There are not a lot of listings in this area and if you like it, you may have to go higher than the asking price to get a nice home before someone else outbids you.
Not A Famous Area
It seems that Ravenscourt Park had its heyday back in medieval times. There were no real famous people that called this neighbourhood home and nothing special took place in the area since those times.
It is a quiet place to raise a family and children will have lots to do there. Ravenscourt ark is filled with different athletic facilities, playgrounds, and a small paddling pool.
The good news is that the Ravenspark and Stamford Brook tube stations keep this community connected to the other parts of London.
