Earls Court

Earls Court

Earls Court is in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, mostly in the SW5 postcode, between Kensington, South Kensington, Chelsea and Fulham. It is a lively neighbourhood of Victorian terraces and garden squares, most of them now divided into flats.

Living in Earls Court

Earls Court is busy, central and more mixed than its neighbours, with pubs, restaurants and cafés along Earls Court Road and Old Brompton Road. Garden squares such as Earls Court Square, Nevern Square and Courtfield Gardens give quieter streets, and Brompton Cemetery is one of the area's largest green spaces. The former exhibition centre site is being redeveloped as a new neighbourhood.

Getting around

Earl's Court station is on the District and Piccadilly lines, with direct trains to Heathrow, the West End and the City. West Brompton (District line and Overground) serves the southern end, and Gloucester Road is a short walk east.

Cost of living in Earls Court

Earls Court is usually one of the more affordable ways to live in the Royal Borough, because most homes are flats. The Royal Borough's council tax has long been among the lower rates in London; check the council's website for your band.

Earls Court is in the SW5 postcode, including Earls Court Square, Nevern Square, Courtfield Gardens and Barkston Gardens. West Brompton is in SW10 to the south, and Kensington in W8 to the north.

Property prices in Earls Court

Across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the average price paid for a home was about £1.20 million. Flats and maisonettes averaged about £948,000, and terraced houses about £2.39 million. Because most homes in Earls Court are flats, typical prices here are closer to the flat figure than to the borough-wide average.
