It May Be Better Known As Tyburnia
Once the Marble Arch was moved to Hyde Park Place and Edgeware road, the surrounding area has been in somewhat of an identity crisis. The area is often called Marble Arch Area but that name can cover Tyburnia, Hyde Park Estates, and other local neighbourhoods.
The arch was moved to this location during the reign of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth‘s carriage went underneath it during her coronation. The Marble Arch Area name also covers other neighbourhoods that have a good view of the arch.
These include Mayfair, Marylebone, and often all of St George's Fields, Marylebone (west of Edgware Road) all in the City of Westminster. Besides being a neighbour of the once largest cinema in London, the Odeon Marble Arch, the Marble Arch area is very close to the former Tyburn gallows site.
The gallows were used for public executions for about 400 years before being removed from service. In the 1960s, Arch’s location was transformed into a large traffic island.
It is said that only the Royal Family and the King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery are allowed to pass through the arch.
Marble Arch Real Estate values
The neighbourhoods affected by and influenced by the Marble Arch are seeing some high real estate values. There is no sign of this bull real estate market cooling off any time soon.
It is going to be a difficult place to find a bargain. In Hyde Park Estates, the studios are selling for over £300,000 and up to £400,000. The apartments start at £425,000.
That seems to be the price in the surrounding areas influenced by the Marble Arch. The news, unfortunately, only gets worse from there. Terraced and other homes were and are selling for £2,500,000 and up.
Some flats have been put on the market for that same price making this a very luxurious neighbourhood to live in. The more luxurious homes are selling in the low to mid 7 to 8 figures.
Paddington and Tyburnia also support those high real estate values. While you will find some lower-end homes for sale in these neighbourhoods, it will take a seasoned estate agent to help you find one.
The area of Marylebone near the arch is the same story. You can expect to find severely high real estate values in sight of the arch. Mayfair properties near the arch support those high real estate values as well.
No matter where you go near the arch, the value of the properties there is extremely high. The cheapest property in Mayfair is a hotel room and it is set at £215,000 while the next lowest selling flat is priced at £775,000.
Right now it is a seller’s market and you can expect to see these high values remain for some time to come.
