Primerose Hill

Primrose Hill is in the London Borough of Camden, mostly in the NW1 postcode, on the northern side of Regent's Park. It takes its name from the hill itself, which has one of the best views over central London.

Living in Primrose Hill

Primrose Hill feels like a village. Regent's Park Road and Gloucester Avenue have independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants, and the streets are lined with pastel-painted Victorian terraces and garden squares such as Chalcot Square. Many houses carry English Heritage blue plaques for famous former residents.

The hill and Regent's Park are part of the Royal Parks, with London Zoo on the park's northern edge. The Regent's Canal towpath leads east to Camden Lock and west to Little Venice.

Getting around

The nearest Tube station is Chalk Farm (Northern line). Camden Town (Northern line) is about 15 minutes' walk, and Euston and King's Cross St Pancras are a short bus or taxi ride away.

Cost of living in Primrose Hill

Primrose Hill is one of the most expensive parts of north London, and houses here rarely come up for sale. Flats in converted houses are the more affordable way into the area.

Primrose Hill postcodes: NW1 and NW3

Most of Primrose Hill is in NW1, with some streets to the north-west in NW3. NW1 also covers Camden Town, Regent's Park and parts of Marylebone.

House prices in Primrose Hill

Across the London Borough of Camden, the average price paid for a home was about £798,000. Flats and maisonettes averaged about £657,000, and terraced houses about £1.53 million. Primrose Hill's period houses sit well above the borough average.
