Fulham
Fulham is a neighbourhood in south-west London, in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, mostly in the SW6 postcode. It sits in a loop of the Thames between Chelsea, Putney and Hammersmith, and is known for its long streets of Victorian terraced houses, its riverside parks and its two football grounds.
The Fulham neighbourhood
Fulham is a popular choice for young professionals and families who want more space than central London offers while staying close to it. Fulham Road, New King's Road and the streets around Parsons Green have pubs, restaurants and independent shops. Many homes are Victorian terraces, some still family houses and others divided into flats, with newer apartment buildings by the river at Imperial Wharf and Chelsea Creek.
Green space includes Bishop's Park and the gardens of Fulham Palace, the historic home of the Bishops of London, on the Thames, as well as South Park, Eel Brook Common and Parsons Green. Fulham FC plays at Craven Cottage by the river, and Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge on Fulham Road.
Getting around
Fulham is served by the District line at Fulham Broadway, Parsons Green and Putney Bridge, and by the Overground at Imperial Wharf. West Brompton (District line and Overground) is on its northern edge, and buses run along Fulham Road and the King's Road into Chelsea and the West End.
Cost of living in Fulham
Fulham is one of south-west London's more expensive neighbourhoods, but it usually costs less to buy or rent in than neighbouring Chelsea, especially for a family house.
